Terry Leon Hasty passed away on July 18, 2023 due to an extended illness.
He was born in Anderson, IN on May 5, 1936. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1954. On April 7, 1956, he married Loretta Beauvais in Escanaba, Michigan.
They then returned to Anderson to raise a family and remained here ever since.
Terry retired as a tool designer from General Motors. He also worked as a professional auctioneer, frequently donating his services to nonprofit organizations for fundraising events.
Terry, by all accounts, “lived the Scout oath and law daily”. A Life Scout and Explorer in his youth, he has been active with Boy Scouts of America throughout his adult life. He personally achieved the OA Vigil honor and Minisino Firecrafter rank. In recognition of his volunteerism and achievements, he was honored by Scouting with the District Award of Merit, The Scouter’s Training Key, the Wood Badge, the Silver Beaver and the Silver Antelope – the highest award granted to Boy Scout volunteers.
In his spare time, he liked to travel, camp, hike, fish and hunt. In more recent years, he liked to work puzzles with his family and complete Sudoku puzzles.
He was a lifetime member of East Lynn Christian Church and was active in many community organizations.
His mother, Sara (stepfather, Gaylord) Marling, wife, Loretta and grandson, Joshua Jackson preceded him in death.
Terry leaves behind to cherish his memory five children, Terri Ginder, Stephanie (Kenny) Jackson, Jill (Bob) Behny, Todd (Shelly) Hasty and Jamalee (Josh Closser) Jackson. He will be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren, Lee Hasty, Shannan (Matt) Haidle, Miranda (Ray) Palmer, Jeffrey (Eva Christine) Jackson, Eric Hasty and Emily Hasty. He also leaves behind three great grandchildren, Alison Haidle, Braeden Haidle and Jacob Palmer. He is also survived by two sisters, Nancy Williamson and Cynthia (Bud) Highbaugh, step-brother, Russell Marling, Aunt Judy Huffer, several cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastors Steve Defields-Gambrel and Dan Bair officiating. A flag ceremony will take place at the start of the service by Boy Scout Troop #232 of Pendleton.
