Obituary

Marguerite M. (Costa) Cullen, of Stoneham, formerly of Malden, age 86, died on Saturday, July 15, 2023. She is the oldest daughter of the late Frank and Flora “Mary” (Maccagnano) Costa. Beloved wife of the late William P. Cullen for 52 years. A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son James and his wife Stacey of Londonderry, NH and their children Tyler & Ryan; her daughter Christine (Cullen) Dumouchel and her husband David of Mansfield, MA and their children Lauren, Nicholas & Caitlin; her son William and his wife Ashley of Raleigh, NC and their children William & Seamus. Sister of the late Lillian (Costa) Shaw and her late husband Robert Shaw. Marguerite was born in Medford and was a resident of Malden for most of her lifetime. She was a former clerk at both New England Telephone and Shawmut Bank / Bank of America. She also volunteered for many organizations throughout her lifetime, including the City of Malden, School Sisters of Notre Dame, Immaculate Conception Mothers’ Club, Immaculate Conception Parish Bingo, 1000 Club, and “the dancing school.” She was a lifelong, faithful, and active parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Church and was a Eucharistic Minister for countless years. She was an avid and loyal Boston Bruins fan, and enjoyed attending live shows, concerts, and musicals. Marguerite spent endless hours caring for her grandchildren and attending their various sports, school and musical activities. She was happiest when she was at her stove cooking and listening to her “oldies” music or feeding people at her table where everyone was welcome, everyone became family, and no one ever left hungry. She always gave an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on; a wonderful person and friend to all. She was truly special and will be dearly missed, but the love and kindness she leaves behind will ripple forever. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Monday July 24th at 9 AM followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday July 23rd from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marguerite’s memory to the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Development Office, 345 Belden Hill Rd, Wilton CT 06897
