NORTH WATERBORO – Jay Guy Benjamin Walton, age 53, a long-time truck driver, passed away on July 16, 2023 in Houlton unexpectedly.
He was born in Biddeford, Maine on July 20, 1969 a son of the late James and Tina Walton.
Baloo, as he was known by fondly to family and his trucking brotherhood, graduated from Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham. He quickly got his Class A CDL license after that and only looked behind him when it was time to back into the unloading door.
While he never enlisted in the military, he did work for two years during Operation Desert Storm as a military contractor providing support to our troops overseas.
In 1995 he married his wife and forever love Nanette Mori. They had two sons that made him so happy and that he loved more than life itself.
Jay has diesel in his veins and has been a long-distance truck driver his whole life. The last 8 years of his career he was a fully independent owner operator. A true highway warrior, he could give you exit by exit directions to almost anywhere in the country (except Lake Arrowhead).
On his short resets at home Jay enjoyed hunting, fishing and relaxing on the lake on his pontoon boat. An annual tradition for Jay was to spend New Year’s Day in Old Orchard Beach supporting his sons Lobster Dip into the icy North Atlantic waters to raise money for Special Olympics Maine. He was very excited to become a grandfather in September.
He is survived by his “lady” and wife, Nanette (Mori) Walton; his children Melissa Walton and her wife Bryanna of Biddeford, Travis Walton of North Waterboro and Trevor Walton and his fiance’ Emma Ayotte of North Waterboro; brothers David Walton and his wife Michelle of Sanford, Eduardo Ramos and his wife Kelly of South Portland; sisters Veronica Beaulieu and her husband Keith of South Carolina, Melissa Cannone and her husband Frank of South Carolina, step-parents Ed & Bonnie Ramos of South Carolina as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 PM at the Chad E Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road, Buxton. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Special Olympics Maine, 525 Main Street Unit D, South Portland, ME 04106
