James F. Walsh

TEWKSBURY: James F. Walsh, age 91, a longtime resident of Tewksbury and active member of the St. William’s Church Community, passed away in the care of his family and hospice on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
He was the beloved husband of Jacquelyn M. (Marsh) Walsh, with whom he celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 15, 2023.
Born in Boston on January 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Patrick Walsh and the late Alice (Twomey) Walsh.
Jim was raised in Charlestown and attended local schools. Following high school, he attended Bentley College and Northeastern University, where he received his bachelor’s degree.
Prior to his retirement, Jim was employed as an accountant by Radlo Brothers, Inc of Watertown, where he worked for 40 years.
Jim served his church as a Eucharistic Minister, lector, CCD Teacher, and member of R.C.I.A. In addition, he was a member of the St. William’s Men’s Club, Couples Club, and the Tewksbury Interfaith Choir.
He was a former volunteer at the House of Hope in Lowell as well as the Tewksbury Hospital.
Jim enjoyed dancing, especially the jitterbug. He and his wife brought much delight to their children as they watched them dance together. In addition, Jim enjoyed a tremendous appreciation for both jazz and classical music.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Patricia A. Pomerleau and her husband Gerald, of Chelmsford, James F. Walsh, Jr., of Nashua, NH, Kevin M. Walsh, of Lowell, Lawrence E. Walsh and his wife Cynthia, of Bedford, Kathleen M. Noftle, of Tewksbury and Carolyn M. DeLucia and her husband Joseph, of Tewksbury. He was the grandfather of Eric Pomerleau, Jenna Codyer, Jennifer Pomerleau, Theresa Walsh, Kerry Ivy, Bradley Pomerleau, Rebecca Walsh, the late Alexandra Walsh, Timothy Walsh, Dorothy Walsh, Shane Mercuri and Cody Mercuri, and great grandfather of Maverick Pinney, Abel Codyer and Willow Codyer.
He was the brother of the late John “Binky” Walsh and his surviving wife Beatrice, and the late Patrick Walsh and his surviving wife Sheila.
Jim leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Calling hours are Wednesday, July 19th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Thursday, July 20th at 9 a.m. followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury.
