Mr. Robert T. O'Day, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved husband of the late Cynthia T. (Batchelder) O'Day, passed away at the Lawrence General Hospital on Friday, July 14, 2023. He was 74 years old.
Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on June 19, 1949, he was the beloved son of the late John F. and Eileen A. (O'Connor) O'Day. Robert was a graduate of Holy Cross where he earned a BA in English and Boston University where he had earned his Masters Degree in Computer Science. Robert was retired from Verizon where he had been a Sr. Security Systems Analyst, for many years.
A very quick witted man, Robert loved to hear a new joke. He had spent several years coaching his son's sports. Robert was the most supportive father to Sean. In his spare time, he enjoyed rooting for the Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox. Above all, Robert was a very proud father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.
Robert is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law; Sean R. and his wife Lianne O'Day of Andover, siblings; John F., Jr. and his wife Marlene J. O'Day of Andover and Timothy J. and his wife Theresa O'Day of Westborough, grandchildren; Kylie, Cameron, Caden and Calvin and many nieces and nephews. Robert was also the brother of the late Kathleen M. O'Day and Stephen W. O'Day.
His funeral mass will be celebrated in the St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM.
