Louise P. (Phelan) Gilblair, age 73, passed away at home supported by the love of her family on Tuesday July 11th. The daughter of the late Richard and the late Julia (Gosselin) Phelan, Louise was raised in Burlington and Somerville and proudly lived in Somerville, virtually all of her life.
Louise was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. As a single mom, she worked hard throughout her life and gave everything she could to give her sons the best lives possible. Louise enjoyed a 35 year career with Somerville Schools, serving as the head clerk and secretary to the principal of Somerville High. Louise enjoyed her home and made it a welcoming place for family and friends. She loved to host holidays, and have people over to her pool or to enjoy some time in the wonderful garden which she worked so hard to keep.
Louise was the former wife of the late Ronald Gilblair, Sr. She was the beloved mother Of Ronald Gilblair, Jr and his wife Tracy of Somerville and David Gilblair of Reading. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to Claudia, Isabella, Isla, Rory, Chase, David Jr., and Morgan. She also leaves her dear brothers, Michael, Richard, and Thomas Phelan.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit on Saturday, July 22nd at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, from 3 – 7 PM. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 6:30 PM. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Louise’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Park, Waltham, MA 02452.
