Francis A. Bergin, 82, of Leicester died on Wednesday, July 12th at UMass Memorial Hospital – University Campus. He leaves three sons, John Bergin and his wife, Tammy of Leicester, Daniel Bergin of Paxton, Timothy Bergin of Leicester; a daughter, Lynne Hartigan and her husband, Kevin of Worcester; a brother David Bergin and his wife, Marie of Westborough; a sister Anne Reno of Lawton, OK; three grandchildren, Erin, Liam and Emma; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Gail (Peterson) Bergin in 2018; and a granddaughter, Megan.
He was born in Worcester, the son of Francis A. and Mabel P. (Greeney) Bergin. Francis graduated from North High School in Worcester and later worked for Ivey industries in Springfield for 40 years. He loved spending summers up in Kennebunkport, ME, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family. He was also lifelong member of St. Joseph-St. Pius X Church in Leicester.
His funeral will take place on Wednesday, July 19th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Pius X Church, 1161 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Waite Street, Leicester. His calling hours are Tuesday, July 18th from 4:00pm until 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
