Francis X. "Frank" Kelley, a lifelong Charlestown resident, entered into eternal life on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at his home in Charlestown. He was 87 years of age.
Frank was born in Boston on December 24, 1935, a son of the late Owen F. Kelley and Grace E. (Martine) Kelley. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School. Frank enlisted into the United States Air Force on January 4, 1954, and served his country with dignity and pride during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on February 29, 1960, with the rank of Airman First Class. Frank began working for the United States Postal Service and retired as a Supervisor following over 25 years of dedicated service to his country. He was a member and Past Commander of the D.A.V Post Chapter # 10 and also a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association. Frank was known as a handyman around the house and in his spare time he enjoyed gardening, spending summers with his family at Hampton Beach and traveling around the world with his beloved wife Ann.
Frank is the beloved husband of the late Ann M. (Apel) Kelley. He is the devoted father of Ann Marie Kelley, Francis X. Kelley Jr., Daniel D. Kelley, Nancy Trant, Jean Marie Nabstedt and Timothy P. Kelley. He is the loving Grandfather to Boston Police Officer Derek, Michaelia, Kristen, Frank III, Sean, Danielle, Nicole, Tyler, Nicholas, Rachael, Deven and his great-grandchildren Shaelyn, Callen, Teagan and Emerald. He is the beloved brother of James P. Kelley, Kevin Kelley and the late Muriel McInnis and Walter Kelley. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Frank's Funeral on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 12 Noon. His burial is private. His visiting hours will be on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
