Obituary

Ivan Edward Bucar, Jr., 76, of Fort Myers Florida, passed away on Thursday July 13, 2023 at his home in Londonderry NH surrounded by loved ones after fighting a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer .He was born on March 6, 1947 in McKeesport, PA, a son of the late Ivan Bucar and Dorothy (Debelak) Meridith, He had been a resident of Stoneybrook at Gateway in Fort Myers, FL for the past 17 years and in October 2022 built a summer residence in Cross Farms in Londonderry. Prior to that Ivan lived for 22 years in South Berwick, Maine.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sherry Allan Bucar; two sons, Casey Allan and his wife Jocelyn from Nashua, NH and Jason Allan and his wife Cydney, from Knoxville, TN; three daughters, Liz Bucar and her partner Alexis Zubrow from. Brookline, MA, Becky Bucar and her husband Kyle Railton from Lake Tahoe, CA, and Katherine Bucar and her Husband Sam Hunt from Oakland, CA; five grandchildren, Zoe Zucar, Gus Hunt Bucar, Declan Allan, Tilly Allan and Rory Allan; brother, Jeffrey Bucar and his wife Julie from Parker CO; and two sisters, Debra Bucar and her husband Dave Champa, and Patricia Shavulsky, all from NYC.

Ivan graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He retired from General Electric after 32 years of service, where he held positions at locations throughout the US and in Brazil. His latest assignment was Manager of International Operations in Somersworth NH. Ivan’s passions were golf, woodworking, playing his guitar and traveling. He and his wife Sherry spent retirement visiting countries throughout the world, many trips with Viking River Cruises. His children and grandchildren were such a source of pride, joy, and comfort to him.

Following cremation, the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to support pancreatic cancer research and patient care.
