Marguerite Anne (McShera) Richards, 70, of Worcester died Thursday, July 13th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus after a brief illness. She leaves her husband, Philip L. Richards, with whom she would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on Friday, July 21st; a son, Michael Coonan of Warren; two brothers, William McShera and his wife, Marian of Worcester, and David McShera of North Myrtle Beach, SC; three sisters, Elizabeth Belanger of Sturbridge, Louise Burch and her husband, Robert of Leicester, and Mary Terraccino and her husband, Joseph of South Hackensack, NJ; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Richard, and Robert.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of John and Marguerite (Riopel) McShera and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. Peggy worked for Charles River Laboratories for 17 years, retiring in 2016 and previously worked for the telephone company. She loved trips to Foxwoods where she enjoyed playing bingo, vacationing at Cape Cod, and visiting Myrtle Beach.
Her funeral is Wednesday, July 19th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
