Stephen Edward Callery, 62 of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital. He was born in Lowell on August 17, 1960 and was a son of the late Joseph P. Callery and the late Julia (Garbarz) Callery.
Stephen was raised in the Blossom Street neighborhood of Lowell and received his education at Sacred Heart School before completing his studies at Bishop Guertin High School. Following his high school years, he began his professional journey as a master contractor, initially working at Wang Laboratories. For the remainder of his life, he devoted his skills to the construction industry, primarily focusing on framing and roofing, while employed by different companies in Lowell.
His unwavering loyalty to the New England Patriots showcased his diehard fandom, and he also found great enjoyment in solving puzzles. Known for his loving and compassionate nature, he possessed a generous heart and held deep affection for his family and friends.
Stephen is survived by his life partner, Robin Ray of Shirley, MA; and his daughters, Sarah and Jenna both of Shirley; his siblings, Joseph P. Callery, Jr. and his wife, Eileen of Methuen, Robert "Bucky" Callery of Vermont, Deborah Lessard and her husband, James of Lowell, and Judith Hajjar and her husband, David of Salisbury; Sister-in-law, Mary Beth Callery of Lowell; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was also the brother of the late James "Jimmy" Callery, the late Richard "Ricky" Callery, the late Virginia "Ginia" Murphy and brother-in-law of the late Carol Lee Glazer, and the late John "Jack" Murphy.
On Thursday, July 20, 2023 all are welcome to attend his calling hours from 3-5 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, 978-458-6816. His funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 5 p.m.
