David Wayne Barton of North Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Tifton, GA, passed away on July 4, 2023 in North Palm Beach.
A Memorial for David will be held at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals on Saturday, July 29, 2023, which the Reverend Randall Gay will be officiating, with a visitation at 1:00 pm and the memorial service at 2:00 pm. Following the services family and friends will gather to share stories and memories of David. Details about this gathering will be given at the service.
Born October 20, 1968, David was the son of the late Ottis Barton (and step-mother Jan) and Marsha Aultman of Tifton, Georgia. David was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Allen Barton, and his step-brother, Tim Smith.
After graduating from Tift County High School in 1986, David served 7 years in the Navy. He was first stationed aboard the battleship USS Iowa and then missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea. After his Honorable Discharge, David came home and worked with his dad painting, and then he worked in roofing with John Morris, grandfather of life-long friend Tim Morris. David helped his dad and worked with Mr. Morris for 7 years before walking on to work the docks at Averitt Express, where he immediately began training to become a driver. David picked up the skill quickly and in the 7 years he drove trucks for Averitt he was recognized repeatedly for his high scores in safety and quality, even earning a mention in their company magazine as one of the Top 20 Drivers in the USA Fleet of Averitt Express. As David would tell it, he was the best truck damn driver there ever was. He said it because many thought it. After leaving Averitt, David moved to Florida to pursue opening his own business, Barton Roofing. There he met his wife, Stacy, mother of his three children, Kendall, Lindsay and Chase, which are the loves of his life.
David’s Maternal Grandparents are the late Frank (Sr.) and Vinitta Aultman of Tifton, and his Paternal Grandparents are the late Early and Louise Barton of Fitzgerald. David is survived by his Wife, Stacy Van Santen Barton; Beloved Children Kendall, Lindsay, and Chase; Mother, Marsha Aultman; Step Mother Jan Barton; Sisters, Tonia Waldrop, Keri Jaros, and Jana Jackson; Brothers-in-Law, Chad Jaros, Dusty Jackson; Nieces Courtney and Amber Waldrop, Nephews David and Justice Jaros, and Dylan Jackson, many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.
