Lawrence Michael “Mike” Lindblom, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 8, 2023, in Derry, New Hampshire at the age of 76. He had bravely battled multiple sclerosis for over 40 years. Mike was born on October 21, 1946, in Norwood, Massachusetts to Lawrence and Evelyn (Carlson) Lindblom.
Mike graduated from Walpole High School in 1964 and then attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968. He enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation and was stationed in Kentucky, where he lived for several years. After being discharged, he started working at Old Stone Bank in Providence, Rhode Island. Mike built a home in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, where he served as town selectman for many years. He later moved to New Hampshire, where he worked at St. Mary’s Bank and lived in Manchester, Merrimack, and Derry. For the last several years, he had enjoyed spending summers in Wells, Maine. Mike had a real gift for gardening. He was so proud of his flowers in Rehoboth, then in Merrimack, and most recently in Wells. He loved the ocean, and he spent many summers enjoying the beaches of Cape Cod, and later, the beautiful Ogunquit Beach in Maine. Mike owned many dogs in his lifetime and cherished each one, especially his sweet dachshunds. He loved playing cards, as well as listening to all different types of music; ABBA and songs from Les Miserables were among his favorites. Mike was a kind, thoughtful, loving man who made friends and brought smiles wherever he went.
Mike is survived by his son Christopher and his wife Shelley of Sudbury, Massachusetts, and his daughter Robin Reed and her husband David of Rehoboth, Massachusetts. Mike adored his seven grandchildren: Peter, Joseph, Meghan, Ryan, Caroline, Patrick, and Anne. He is survived by his two sisters, Elaine Dugan of Richfield Springs, New York, and Laura Neilsen and her husband James, of The Villages, Florida.
