Alan was born on August 10, 1936 and was raised in Revere, MA. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Boston State College and his Master’s Degree from Northeastern University.
He was a devoted, loving husband who put his wife Marjorie above all else until the very end. They traveled the world together and made memories that will last a lifetime. They were the definition of soulmates.
Alan loved to help people, whether it be teaching his students in Lexington for 35 years which he had a love for that cannot be put into words, or spending his time volunteering at the Lawrence homeless shelter helping those who were less fortunate.
He dedicated many years of his life to playing, listening, and teaching music. He also spent many hours creating endless pieces of amazing artwork. It was something he loved to do.
He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Marjorie (Kesser) Cooper, one son Matthew A. Cooper and his wife Dana, one daughter, Remi Jo Witherbee and her husband James, five grandchildren, Joshua Witherbee and his wife Krista, Erika Tillis and her fiancé Nathan DiMauro, Paige Witherbee, Nate Cooper, and Addie Cooper, one brother, Harvey, and his wife Diane.
