Elenore M. Rumba, 91, of Hyannis, MA, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023.
Elenore was born on April 24, 1932, in Boston, MA to her parents Ernest and Bertha Kramer. She lived and attended school in Dedham, MA, and graduated Dedham High School in 1949.
At Dedham High School, she met her future husband, George Rumba. They fell in love and married in 1952. Together they had 2 children, Richard (Rick) and Steven (Steve).
After starting their family, Elenore worked as a full-time mom, later working as a bank teller for many years in Walpole, MA.
Elenore loved cooking, baking, and gardening her whole life. After her children were grown, she and George loved to travel, making several trips abroad, and driving with their camper to parks and natural attractions across the country. Her whole life she was a strong believer in the Christian faith and was always active in their local Lutheran Church wherever they lived. Elenore always put her family first, and was a loving, caring and kind wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Elenore is survived by her husband of 70 years, George; her son Richard and his wife Lynne of Harpswell, Maine; her son Steven of Sandwich, MA; grandson Dennis Rumba and great-grandson Cassidy Rumba of Thorndike, Maine; granddaughter Jill Torrice and her husband Daniel of Ayer, MA; brother Ernest Kramer of Wrentham, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
A private burial will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery located in Bourne, Massachusetts on Wednesday July 19, 2023 at 11:15am. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Dedham, MA.
