Obituary

Sarah Geraldine Cottle, 84, of Ty Ty passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty with the Rev. Steve Davis and the Rev. Barol Bailey officiating. Ms. Cottle will be laid to rest at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Tye Cottle, Dusty Cottle, Ken Spurlin, Johnny Spurlin, Don Cottle, Jelks Warren and Corey Cottle will serve as pallbearers.

Born April 2, 1939, in Ty Ty, Ms. Cottle was the daughter of the late John Thomas Cottle and Jewel Sumner Cottle. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Jewel Walters; one brother, Donald Cottle; and two sisters, Linda Warren and Gwen Spurlin. She was a graduate of Tift County High School and, before retiring, she was employed with Georgia Power Company, Conger LP Gas Company and she was the Events Coordinator for the Georgia Agrirama. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty and the Abound Adult Sunday School Class, as well as the Ty Ty Baptist Church Decorating Committee.

Ms. Cottle had many talents which included sewing, watercolors, basket weaving, spinning yarn and thread, quilting, crocheting, knitting, antiquing, making clothes for church missions, making masks during the pandemic, making wreaths, decorating, bowling and playing the card game, Hand and Foot. She was a very strong woman and had overcome many challenges during her life.

Ms. Cottle is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robley Franklin and Brenda Sue Walters of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Tommy Cottle and Frankie and Marianna Cottle, all of Ty Ty; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Bobby Simpson of Tifton; and one grandson and his wife, Jason and Haley Culpepper of Jacksonville, Florida.

The family would like to express a special thanks for their special care of Ms. Cottle to Joe and Cindy Spurlin, Ken and Connie Spurlin, Tye and Maria Cottle, Darby and Todd Veazey, Bonnie and Bobby Simpson, Tommy Cottle, Regency Hospice (Marisol, Laura, Lauren and Jennifer), Linda Gray Caregivers (Linda, Kathryn, Brenda, Veronica, Rudine, Vanessa, Cynthia and LaVita) and anyone else we may have overlooked during these trying times.
