Carl A. Knodler, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away on July 7, 2023, at the age of 94, surrounded by his family. Carl was born on September 30, 1928 to Carl and Elsie Knodler. He attended Springfield Technical High School and worked for Community Feed, Armour Meats and Dart Transport. Carl enjoyed vacationing throughout New England and the Adirondacks and especially loved his annual trip to Arizona with his wife. He also cherished the family gatherings on Sundays, and always enjoyed playing a game of cards. He is predeceased by his wife, Ferne, his sister, Arlene Szymko, and one great grandchild. He is survived by his sons, Carl (Kathy) Knodler, Jr, of Hampden, Eric (Nancy) Knodler of Castleton, NY, and Michael (Jane) Knodler of Belchertown, a daughter Elizabeth (Carleton) Hills, of Rush, NY as well as his nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Art (Eileen) Knodler of East Longmeadow, Herman Knodler of Springfield, and his sister Esther Meehan of Feeding Hills. Services for Carl will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, with a visitation from 9:00 – 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Home Service at 11:00 and committal immediately following in Calvary Cemetery.
