Jean F. Doherty (Gilmore) of Revere passed away on July 6, 2023. She was 92 years old. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. Doherty. Born in Malden, she was the cherished daughter of the late Hugh E. and Irene (O’Sullivan) Gilmore.
Prior to her retirement, Jean worked as a flight service technician for Sky Chef. She loved to play Bocce and go bowling, but she was best known as a world traveler and a beach lover.
Jean was the devoted mother of Michael Hugh Doherty and his wife Anita of Wakefield, Kerry Starr and her husband Robert of Gibsonia, PA, Kathleen Melanson and her husband Michael, Sean Doherty, Maureen Dazkevich and her husband George all of Winthrop, the late Michael Gerard Doherty and “mother of the heart” to Marilyn Gifford of FL. She was the adored grandmother of Kaitlin, Michael, Gianna, Ashley, Sara, Jessica and Alison and loving great-grandmother of Brooke and Jake. Jean was the dear sister of the late Louise Russell Campbell and Hugh Gilmore Jr.
A visiting hour will take place in St. John the Evangelist Church (St. Michael's Parish) 320 Winthrop St. Winthrop on Wednesday, July 12, from 9-10AM, followed by a funeral Mass beginning at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will follow in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section).
