With great sadness, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Delbridge Dubiel. She peacefully departed this world on July 3, 2023 at the age of 83 after a courageous battle with cancer.
"Betsy," daughter of the late Charles and Celeste Delbridge, was born on January 12, 1940, in Kirkwood, MO. Her zest for life, witty humor, and unconditional love for her family were palpable and apparent in every aspect of her life. She was kind, giving, and guided by her empathy and strong faith. Her bravery, determination, and compassion served as a contagious example for all.
Her vibrant spirit radiated warmth and she found beauty in everyday life. Her love of music inspired her to learn to play the violin at age 48 and through dedication and practice, she became a member of various orchestras in both Massachusetts and Florida. Also an avid reader, a novel or dictionary was always at hand. She especially prided herself on springing newly learned words on her unsuspecting grandchildren during very competitive word games of Scrabble & Boggle!
She is survived by the love of her life and devoted husband Bob of fifty-nine years, three beloved sons and daughter: Scott of Vero Beach, FL, Jeff (Alexis) of Pleasanton, CA, Doug (Mari) of Hobe Sound, FL and Jennifer of Ross, CA. She leaves behind her ten grandchildren and many dear, lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her cherished sister Peggy Anne Wolf of St. Louis, MO.
Betsy leaves a legacy of love, kindness, compassion, and humor. She will forever be missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Although our hearts ache with the pain of her loss, we find solace in knowing that she rests in eternal peace and is reunited with those who have gone before her.
"As you look upon a monarch butterfly and admire its simplicity and beauty - remember me. Remember me in your heart, your thoughts, your memories of the times we loved, the times we laughed. For if you always think of me, I will never be gone."
A celebration of Betsy's life will be held privately with family members. In honor of her memory and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations: Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra, P.O. Box 651334, Vero Beach, FL 32965, Christ Church Vero Beach, 667 20th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960, or the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth, 17 Middle St., South Dartmouth, MA 02748.
