CHICOPEE – Donald A. Houle, Sr., 75, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, July 3, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on May 24, 1948, a beloved son of the late Armand J. and Alice D. (Manseau) Houle. He was raised and educated in Chicopee and had lived in Chicopee most of his life. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1972 and attained the rank of Private. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal with Six Stars and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was employed as a bus driver for the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority. During his leisure, he enjoyed listening to Polish music, fishing, walking, collecting stamps and people watching. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He leaves his three loving children, Donald A. Houle, Jr. and his partner, Catharine Sostre, of Westfield, Matthew A. Houle and his wife, Denise, of Clarksburg, MD and Katie K. Houle and her husband, Jesse, Haas, of Chicopee; his four cherished grandchildren, Cooper Houle, Mollie Houle, MacKenzie Houle, Gary Haas; his dear brother, Gerard O. Houle and wife, Mary, of Southampton; and his many dear extended family members and friends. His Funeral Services will be held a date and time to be announced. There are no visiting hours.
