It is with heartfelt sorrow that our family announces the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Steve Lorenzana, of Oxnard, passed away on June 24, 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Ventura and was preceded in death by his parents David and Anita Lorenzana, and sister Claudia Richardson. He is a descendant of the Olivas and Lorenzana families, who were given a California Spanish land grant in 1847 called Rancho San Miguel.
He attended Holy Cross, Santa Clara High School, and Ventura College. After returning from his service in the Air Force, he received his BA degree from Cal State Northridge and was then employed by Pac Bell for 28 years.
In 1972 Steve met Rosemary Preciado at his sister's wedding and were wed in 1974. He is survived by his wife Rose, sons Josh Lorenzana, and Nathan (Prisma) Lorenzana, daughter Sara (Will) Roundy, his 7 beloved grandchildren, sister Cynthia (Doug) Sassen, brother-in-law Steve Richardson, and many nieces and nephews.
He loved playing baseball, tennis and was an avid surfer in the 60's.
As a young boy he grew up in the era of John Wayne, Roy Rodgers, Hopalong Cassidy, and Gene Autry. Westerns remained in his blood throughout his lifetime, becoming quite a historian and artisan of Western crafts. So now, Steve, we must bid you, "Happy trails to you until we meet again." May you rest in eternal peace, knowing that you are deeply loved and will be eternally missed. God bless you, Steve.
Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.
Mass will be held at Santa Clara Catholic Church, Oxnard on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you donate to the American Cancer Society in Steve's name. This gesture will not only honor Steve's memory, but will also help others battling their challenging cancer issues.
