Obituary

Tewksbury – Donald L. Scheipers – 64, longtime resident of Tewksbury, died peacefully at home after a long illness on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda (Leary) Scheipers of 36 years. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia on April 6, 1959, he is the son of Martha (Seymour) and the late Clarence “Mike” Scheipers of North Andover.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his three children, Craig Scheipers of Salem, MA, Lauren Walsh and her husband Michael of Nashua, NH, and Claire Scheipers of Tewksbury. He also leaves his siblings Debbie Cannella of Methuen, Brenda Scheipers of Milford, NH, David Scheipers of North Andover, and Cindy Dollarhide and her husband Fred of Raymond, NH. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Maureen (Leary) Wolfenden and husband Brian of North Andover. As well as nephews Charles Cannella (fiancé Nina), Brian Cannella (wife Kate, son Adam, and daughter Karsen), Michael and Paul Wolfenden.

Don graduated from North Andover High School in 1977 and went on to study at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY. He worked as a production and materials manager for many years.

Don had a love for baseball. He was a long-time coach in Tewksbury and umpire in the Merrimack Valley. He had the opportunity to be the third base umpire for the Boston v. New York Sportswriters press game at Fenway Park in 2017. He was an avid Boston sports fan and did not miss a Patriots or Bruins game.

To honor Don’s wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. Donations in his memory can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the Jimmy Fund at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
