David J. Turbridy, 79, of North Providence, died Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Stillwater Nursing Home, in Greenville. He was the son of the late James J. Turbridy, Sr. and the late Ann A. (McCaffery) Turbridy.
David is survived by his brother, James J. Turbridy, Jr. and his wife, Susan M. Turbridy of Smithfield. He was the beloved uncle of his niece, Jade M. Toher and her husband, Ryan R. Toher and their children Raegan & Ronan. David was also the brother of the late Robert F. Turbridy formerly of Worcester, MA and his wife Ruthann of Sutton, Quebec Canada and their children: Casey, Naomi and Magnolia.
David graduated from Providence College where he had played basketball for four years.
David was an English teacher and basketball coach for North Providence High School and also taught in California before returning to Rhode Island to work at Zamborano Hospital until retirement.
David was a life long Friars basketball and Boston sports fan. He was an avid golfer, belonging most recently to Triggs Memorial Golf Club.
His funeral service will be held Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, July 6, 2023, 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
