Obituary

James L. Monahan, 36, of Providence, RI but formerly of Franklin, MA, died unexpectedly Friday, June 30th, 2023 at his home. Born August 22, 1986 in Milford, he was the beloved son to the late Debra Lee (Simons) Monahan and the late Lawrence Monahan.

James was a 2004 graduate of Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School where he studied electrical work. He spent the last few years bartending, participating in darts competitions, and spending time with friends and family. However what James treasured most was his music. He spent countless hours playing and creating music, especially with his band Flatout Jones.

James grew up very quickly in 36 years and experienced more than most people ever will. This never stopped him from sharing memories with friends, remaining compassionate, or lending an ear when needed. James gained friends from many different paths in life and everyone loved him. He will be missed dearly.

James is survived by his aunts Patricia “Tish” (Simons) Bucchanio, Jennifer Simons, and Gayle Simons, his uncles Jay Simons, Pat Simons, and Billy Simons, his cousins Tasha Bucchanio, Toni Bucchanio-Johnson, Taylor Bucchanio, Samantha Moore, Tim Nicholson, Connor Simons, Logan Simons, Cassidy Simons, and Shaun Simons. James is predeceased by his grandparents Joan Simons and Jack Simons as well as his uncle Peter Bucchanio. In addition, many extended family members and friends will greatly miss him.
