Delia P. (Clancy) Connolly, age 92, a resident of Winchester for 65 years, passed away on
June 30, 2023.
She was the beloved wife for 44 years of Stephen K. Connolly until his death in 2004.
Born in Galway, Ireland, Delia was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Clancy) Clancy.
She was raised and educated in Furbo, County Galway, and came to America in 1950.
She met Stephen at a dance at the Hibernian Hall in West Roxbury and their story began.
They settled in Winchester and raised their family there. In her spare time, Delia was active in
the Immaculate Conception Church as a member of the Ladies Sodality. A homemaker, she
also found time to volunteer at the Jenks Senior Center and with Winchester Trails. She and
Stephen were also members of the Irish Social Club in West Roxbury for many years and spent
time at their lake house on Newfound Lake in NH. An avid knitter, Delia made beautiful
scarves and hats for family and friends. Above all, the most important thing was her family.
She cherished spending holidays and celebrating traditions and milestones with them.
Delia was the loving mother of Thomas P. Connolly and his wife Laurie of Wilmington,
James G. Connolly of Woburn, and Sheila M. Brooks and her husband Andrew of Northborough,
and the late Mary Ann Cabral and her surviving husband Jeff of Winchester. She was the devoted
grandmother of Mark V. Connolly, Cameron and Cole Brooks, the dear sister of the late Stephen
and Michael Clancy and is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
