LACONIA ---- Kenneth A Deshaies, life time resident of Laconia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
Kenneth was born in Laconia, NH in October of 1945, to Arnold and Lucille (Poire) Deshaies. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1964 and went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Carol Landry.
During his years in high school his musical talent shown through and the Shydells were born. The saxophone was his instrument of choice and this carried through his life as he played with Kenny and the Classics and many churches throughout the Lakes Region. You could find him on Christmas Eve gracing his family and friends with the best Christmas songs from the past. It truly made his heart happy.
Kenneth was a Renaissance man. He built his custom post and beam home with the help of his late son Marc, his late father Arnold and his best friend, the late Roland Poire. He was the sole owner of his company Yankee Reproductions which specialized in tool and die and pattern making well before the use of computerized machines. He worked tirelessly for his family and God. Even through many struggles with his health, he did not stop working full-time until the very day of his passing.
He raised, along with his wife Carol, four children through the 70’s and 80’s to be hard working and independent adults. Kenneth was well known as a self taught, extremely intelligent man. He used that intelligence wisely to provide for his family and to grow in his life. He could often be found eating a home cooked meal while reading his current book of choice as reading was a joy for him. He enjoyed creating beautiful works of art through woodworking. The Sandwich Fair was a very special part of his family and tradition. He would count down the days till the next one as he was leaving the fair with his honey candies and a belly full of fair food. These were treasured times with his family.
Kenneth could often be found chasing the love of his life Carol around for just one more kiss. Most importantly, he believed in our Lord and Savior, freedom and his country. He will be missed.
He leaves behind Carol (Landry), his loving wife of 59 years, his three daughters, Andrea Deshaies of Warner, NH, Renee Tessier (Geoff) of Campton, NH, and Danielle Thurber (Darryl) of Sidney, OH along with his grandchildren Micah, Marlinda, Josiah, Keegan, Samantha, Alexander, Eli, Jasmine and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was predeceased by his son, Marc; grandchild, Alexander; and his sole sibling, Rena.
For those who wish to honor Kenneth, the family suggests memorial contributions in Kenneth’s name to be made to Teen Challenge New England (https://tcnewengland.org/) or Haven Pregnancy Services (https://www.havenpregnancyservices.com/).
