HOLLIS- Wilbur "Will" Gardner, age 74, passed away on June 28th, 2023, at the Veterans Home in
Scarborough after his brave battle with cancer.
He was born in Allagash, Maine on May 19th, 1948, a son of the late Wilbur and Eva (Mullins) Gardner. He attended Allagash High. Will enlisting into the second Marine Division on March 25t, 1966. Will proudly serve in the Vietnam war with the Marine Corps and received many medals including the Purple Heart Medal. Upon returning from the war, he married Beatrice O'Leary. He continued his service through the Army National Guard and attended the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Will was employed as Sheriff for Aroostook County along with working for the Topsham Police Department. From there he moved to Portland and became a security officer for Bath Iron Works. Will enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter, visiting his home in Allagash, and being around his loved ones.
He is predeceased by a brother- Albert Gardner and parents Wilbur and Eva Gardner. Wil is survived by his children Roxanne Gardner and her partner William Frank Jr of Hollis and Suzanne Hebert and her husband Tim Hebert of St. Francis; sisters- Annie McBreairty of Guilford, Judy Hafford of Allagash, Patty Pelletier of Allagash, Diana Gardner-Weimer of California; brothers- Lee Gardner of Bangor, Gary Gardner of Eagle Lake; three grandchildren- Logan, Cali (favorite), and Creed; and four great grandchildren- Carissa, Eddy, Izzy, and Madison.
Will did not want to have a funeral service, in honor of Will, please donate to the Scarborough Veterans Home.
