Robert W. “Bob” Young, age 83 of Crossville, TN, formerly of Brockton, died on June 23, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of Gloria (Cabajar) for 30 years. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Marguerite (O’Shea) Young.
He will be greatly missed by his sister Janet Camp of Gaithersburg, MD; his brother Billy Young and his wife Kathy of Brockton and his sister-in-law Paulette Young of Attleboro. He was predeceased by his brother Harry E. Young and his sister Helen Young.
As a young man, Bob served in the Army National Guard. He worked for the City of Brockton for over 30 years and retired as a highway field supervisor. Bobby was a member of the Brockton YMCA where he made many lifetime friends. He was an avid runner and competed in the Boston Marathon. He also completed several half triathlons as well as the race to the top of Mt. Washington.
In addition to his wife Gloria, Bob is survived by his daughter Lia Sherrill and her husband Matthew, Bob Young Jr. and his wife Shelli and family, Eddie Young and his wife Renee and the late Lisa Young. He was the grandfather of Patricia Alvarez and Donald Liam Sherrill. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on July 1, 2023 at the Cumberland Worship Center in Crossville, TN.
