Our dear Mother, Rita Ann Tomaszewski (Carty), sadly passed away holding her daughter, Lisa A. Tomaszewski's hand on June 23, 2023 at the age of 93.
She was a wonderful and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was always there when we needed her.
She was preceded in death by Henry Tomaszewski Jr. her loving son. She is survived by Christine Marcotte and her husband Donald of Riverside, RI. Charlie Tomaszewski and his wife Laureen Crowley Tomaszewski of Arlington. Mary Ann Guerbous of Medford, John Tomaszewski and Joseph Tomaszewski both of Lynn and Lisa Tomaszewski of Everett.
Loving grandmother of Jaclyn O'Connor of Medford. Kaleigh Crowley Tomaszewski of Arlington. Sean Patrick Tomaszewski of Arlington. Linda Manning. Sylvia Tomaszewski Belcastro and her husband, John Belcastro. Zara Guerbous, Alisa Ann Feliciano and Alexis Tomaszewski Santos. Also lovingly survived by great & great-great grandchildren.
Loving daughter of the late, Patrick Carty and MaryAnne (Layden) of Elgin, Albert, New Brunswick, Canada.
Devoted Sister to Gerald Joseph John Carty (Lt. WWII & Purple Heart recipient -Arlington National Cemetery 2000), Evelyn Ruth (Coffey), Marie Carty (Meehan), Leo, Maurice Carty, Grace (Burns), Mary Berta Carty (Marinelli), Robert Carty and Jane (Shipps).
Rita was a graduate of “Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls” with the Class of 1949.
Rita was a current resident of Lynn and former resident of Cambridge, MA where she raised her children.
She worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s Department of Revenue and Business Tax Department from 1985 to 2009 and received many awards and accolades including perfect attendance for 24 years and 10 months at the job. She was very dedicated and loyal.
She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Winchester Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center.
Rita loved and served our Lord and her faith in him carried her through all of life’s difficulties.
Visiting hours will be held at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street in South Boston on Thursday, July 6th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Catherine's Church in Somerville on Friday July 7th at 11:00a.m. Interment services will be private.
