Obituary


Mary E. McLaughlin, age 80, of South Paris, Maine formerly of Woburn, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Thursday, June 22, 2023. Born in Woburn she was one of six daughters of the late William E. and Mary E. (Brown) McLaughlin.

Mary was raised and educated in Woburn and was a member of the 1959 graduating class of St. Charles High School. Mary has been a resident of Maine for the past forty years. She was an extremely hard worker throughout her life. For nearly ten years she owned and operated the former Colonial Coffee Shoppe in Norway, Maine. In her leisure time she enjoyed watching old western movies on the television, working on puzzles, playing cards with family and friends, and attending bingo. Her greatest joy was her family and nothing made her happier than to spend time with her grandchildren and being surrounded by those she loved most. Mary's family would also like to acknowledge and give special thanks to the Special Care Unit at the Stephens Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care given to Mary as well as all the support given to her family.

Mary is survived by her devoted children, Donald Scelzo, Kimberly Stanton and her fiancé Bob Corkery, Donna Bicheler, Karen Blanchette and her husband Ed, Robert Scelzo and his wife Kristie, Mark Scelzo, and Kathryn Scelzo. She was the loving grandmother of Brady Scelzo, Grayson Newell, Charee Scelzo and her fiancé Larry Woodruff, Cameron Scelzo and girlfriend Ashlei Moss, Riley Scelzo, Nicole and Elyce Bicheler, James Stanton and wife Tiffany, Joe Stanton and wife Kristin, Melissa Stanton, and Kerry Packard. She is also survived by nine loving great grandchildren. Sister of Rita Stone, the late Jeanne McLaughlin, Carol Lynch, Ann Barnet, and Ruthie Mulrenan. Further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, June 30th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Funeral Home will be held on Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
