Obituary

CHICOPEE – Ann (Daly) Goonan, 90, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, June 25, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Westfield on September 7, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late Michael J. and Ellie T. (O’Conner) Daly. She was raised in Westfield where she graduated from Saint Mary High School. She moved to Chicopee in 1967 when she married Mike Goonan and lived in Chicopee the remainder of her life. She was employed as a Telephone Operator for 42 years at the former New England Telephone Company, which later became AT&T, and retired in 1993. She was a former communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Chicopee Falls and currently was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She was a member of Pro Life of Pioneer Valley and the Telephone Pioneers. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Michael V. Goonan. They were married on July 29, 1967 at Saint Mary Church in Westfield and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving children, Michael J. Goonan and his wife, Laurie, of Medfield and Judithann “Judy” Campbell of Springfield; her two cherished grandchildren, Molly and Ryan Goonan; her dear brother, John “Jack” Daly and his wife, Jeanne Marie, of Silver Spring, MD; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her dear son in law, Robin L. “Rob” Campbell who was Called Home on April 10, 2019; her three dear brothers, Daniel Daly, Joseph Daly and his wife, Phyllis, and James Shea and his wife, Colleen; and her two dear sisters, Mary Moore and her husband, Harold, and Ellen Daly. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 beginning at the funeral home at 7:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her committal service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
