Richard (Dick) Charles Gannon, 84 years old, passed away peacefully in the early hours of June 25th, 2023, in the presence of his wife Carol A. Gannon, and sister, Arlene Gordon, after a lengthy illness. Richard was born October 31, 1938, to the late John and Agnes Gannon of Waltham, MA.
Richard and Carol were married 55 years and were long-time residents of Bellingham, MA. Richard was an office manager for over 30 years before retiring. Richard was a lover of gardening, reading books, talking about Boston sports, and eager for a good debate. Richard was an avid swimmer who taught his grandchildren how to dive. He was a hardworking, dedicated family man who always put family first.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Mooney, and daughter Kelly Caswell.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; his six children: James Alarie and wife Patricia of Fort Myers, FL; William Alarie of Bellingham, MA; Edward Alarie and wife Chae, of Attleboro, MA; Wayne Alarie and wife Becky of Sanford, ME; Kim Larochelle and fiancé Brian McGowan of Blackstone, MA; and Lisa Fortier of Bellingham, MA; his fifteen grandchildren: Kristy, Vanessa, Michael, Joshua, Craig, Maxwell, Megan, Jacob, Brendan, Emma, Brett, Jeffrey, Nadeline, Mariani, and Jahaira; his six great grandchildren: sister, Arlene Gordon and husband Steve, of Waltham, MA; niece Kaitlyn Cullinane and husband Brian; Jeffrey Gordan and wife Korinne; and Kristen Gordan; and great nephew and niece.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 29th in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 9:30-11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be at Scott Cemetery in Bellingham.
In lieu of flowers donations are requested in his memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston.
