Daina S. Ahern, 64

Daina S. (Saulesleja) Ahern, age 64, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Born in Boston, MA on October 22, 1958, she was a loving daughter of the late Augusts “Gus” and Mirdza (Duzens) Saulesleja.
Daina spent her younger childhood living in Dorchester and spending summers in Norton. Her family later moved to Norton fulltime where she was a 1976 graduate of Norton High School and attended Fisher Junior College. Prior to retiring, Daina was the co-owner of Packaging Plus in New Bedford and a former Administrative Assistant at Connors Brothers in Westwood.
A member of the Latvian Lutheran Church in Brookline, Daina was very proud of her Latvian Heritage. While growing up she was a member of the Latvian Folk Dancers and enjoyed taking trips to her family’s native country of Latvia.
Daina loved times spent with her adoring family, lifelong friends and especially caring for others. Spending time at Old Silver Beach in Falmouth was always fun and special to her, as well as skiing and collecting bells from all the states she visited.
She is survived by devoted daughter Stephanie A. Ahern of Clearwater, Florida and her cherished grandchildren Morgan K. Winger and Corey A. Cole, both of St. Petersburg, Florida. She was the loving longtime companion of Al Ferry, with whom she made her home in Norton. She is also survived by her best friend Peggy Ware of Taunton, her cousins in Latvia and her favorite furry friend “Mikey”.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend will be held on Sunday, July 2nd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at The Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 3rd at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury.
