Michael Charles “Mike” Fontaine, 74, of Derry, NH passed away June 22, 2023, at his residence after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Mike was born March 24, 1949, in Haverhill, MA and was the son of the late Euguene A. Fontaine II and the late Dorothy (Fontaine) Comeau. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School and attended Northern Essex Community College. Mike had been a resident of Derry since 1977.
Mike served as a Lance Corporal in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He will be fondly remembered as a proud patriot and former Marine. After his military service Mike worked as an officer with the Haverhill Police Department before transitioning to his career with the Raytheon Corp. in Andover, MA. Mike served in several positions all related to physical security with the Raytheon Guard Association and later corporate security functions. Mike worked at Raytheon for over 40 years. Mike will be remembered as an avid golfer. He spent many years traveling to Myrtle Beach for golfing vacations and was a member of the Hoodkroft Country Club for over 30 years.
Mike was predeceased by his beloved wife Linda (Bruce) Fontaine in 2012 and his brother Eugene A Fontaine. He is survived by his loving daughter, Michele Fontaine, two brothers, Dennis Fontaine (Elizabeth) and James Comeau, two sisters, Kathleen Harasek (John), and Lisa Smith. Mike also leaves behind his aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
