New Bedford – Armanda Conceicao Goulart Pereira Paiva passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on June 21, 2023. She was born in the town of Angra do Heroismo, Terceira, Azores, Portugal. Armanda was the devoted wife of the late Albert Paiva, loving daughter of Armando Pereira and Maria Goulart Pereira, and the loyal sister to the late Jose Pereira and the late Mary C. Pereira.
She is survived by daughter Debra Anne Flood of New Bedford, son Marcos Antonio Paiva of Natick, granddaughters; Kaitlin Armanda Flood and her partner Kyle Lubo, Sarah Grace Flood, Catharine Marie Paiva, grandson Joseph Philipp Paiva, and great grandchildren; Liam Thomas Gadomski, Julian Lubo, and Isabella Lubo.
Armanda’s fondest early memories of her upbringing consisted of family travels throughout Portugal. At the age of 23, Armanda relocated to the United States and shortly thereafter, started her own family. Armanda’s home warmly welcomed all visitors. She was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Armanda enjoyed relaxing under her grapevine, going on outings with her sister, and cooking for family and friends. Her chicken soup and red bean soup are unforgettable family favorites. Armanda's whole world revolved around her family, especially her great grandchildren later in life. She will always be remembered for her tender heart and nurturing nature. Truly selfless in every sense, Armanda was a true inspiration and will be greatly missed.
Visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA on Monday, June 26th from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Her Funeral will take place on Tuesday, June 27th beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church 230 Bonney St New Bedford, Massachusetts 02744 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery 664 Allen St New Bedford, Massachusetts, 02740.
