Madeline Cuddy, 83, of Southington, CT, formerly of Chelmsford, passed away on June 17, 2023. She was born on March 26, 1940, in Lowell, Massachusetts, and was the beloved daughter of the late William H. Cuddy and the late Mary B. (Lynam) Cuddy. Madeline spent her formative years in Lowell and received her education at the Sacred Heart School, The Academy of Notre Dame, and Lowell Commercial College. She dedicated 34 years of her career to the Colonial Gas Company before retiring, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and community.
For many years, Madeline called Chelmsford home, where she was an active member of Saint Mary's Church. Madeline and her mom took wonderful care of her dad through a long illness and was a loving and thoughtful daughter. Traveling was one of Madeline’s greatest joys, and she had many adventures with her mom and good friend, Janice Hudzik. In her leisure time, she found peace and creativity in knitting, embroidery, and then quilting with her good friend and neighbor, Maureen Fournier. Madeline gifted the lovely quilts to family and friends. Her childhood friends, many cousins, and friends she met over the years were a network of support for her.
Madeline is survived by her niece, Christine Zipps, of West Hartford, CT, her nephew, David Zipps, and his wife Jennifer of Tucson, AZ, and their children, Renee (James), James, and Michael. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Zipps, of East Hartford, CT. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Patricia Zipps, as well as her parents, William and Mary Cuddy.
Madeline's sense of humor, warm smile, and loving nature will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and the joy she brought to others will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
You are invited to gather on Saturday, July 1st, from 9:00 – 10:00 am the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA.
