Lillian (Belmarce) Mingola, 98, of New Bedford passed away June 22, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was the former wife of the late Bartolomeu C. Mingola.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Virginia (Ferreira) Belmarce, she lived in New Bedford all her life. She was a graduate with honors of New Bedford High School, class of January 1943. She was a communicant of the former St. John the Baptist Church and more recently Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
In her earlier years, Lillian was employed as an executive secretary at Aerovox Company followed by many years as a homemaker and mother. Lillian enjoyed interior decorating, shopping, reading, crossword puzzles, traveling and being with her large family. She was a spiritual person who loved to help others.
Survivors include her two sons, Atty. Bartholomew Mingola, Jr. of New Bedford and Kenneth Mingola and his wife Tammy of Westport; four daughters, Lynne Galuska and her husband Raymond of Middleboro, Wanda Bouchard of New Bedford, Maria Calcagni and her husband Dr. Dean of Ijamsville, MD, and Vivian Hawkins and her husband David of Dartmouth; son-in-law, Christopher Kearley of Assonet; a sister, Eileen Belmarce of New Bedford; a sister-in-law, Madalena Rodrigues of New Bedford; many cousins including Euridice Caldas of New Bedford; a godchild, Sandi Crowell; 10 grandchildren, Matthew "Cal" & Gina Calcagni, William, Stephen (Danielle) & Andrew Hawkins, Christian & Carolyn Mingola, Samantha & Jacob Mingola and Christopher Kearley; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughters Rochelle Mingola and Katherine Kearley; grandson Dennis G. Bouchard; sisters Judith Gonsalves, Mary Souza, Palmira Belmarce, Regina Hathaway and Anne Helme; and son-in-law Dennis P. Bouchard.
Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 27th at 10:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:30 AM. Visiting hours will be on Monday, June 26th from 4-8 PM.
