Domenico Del Vecchio, of Medford, passed away on Sunday, June 18th surrounded by family. He was 83 years old at the time of his passing. Born and raised in San Sossio Baronia, Avellino, Italy, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Maria Grazia Del Vecchio.
Domenico immigrated to the U.S with his wife to achieve and live the American dream. In America he was a butcher for most of his adult life. Domenico was proud to be an American citizen but never forgot his Italian culture and enjoyed sharing it with family and friends.
Domenico could be found tending to his vegetable garden, plants and grape vine. When Domenico was not in his garden, he enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones. He enjoyed keeping up with domestic and international current events, all types of American sports, especially football, as well as watching Italian television and futbol. He was extremely devoted to his wife and daughters above all else. He loved to see his family gather around the kitchen table enjoying meals together. Domenico enjoyed playing and teaching card games and bocci to family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and making wine which he was able to enjoy with his family.
Domenico was the beloved husband of Maria Del Vecchio for 58 years. He was the devoted father of Maria Grace and Anna Del Vecchio and the late Carmelina Del Vecchio Bergin. He was the loving grandfather of Renee, TJ, Denise, Samantha, David, Jimmy, Matthew, Olivia and Nicholas, He was the caring great-grandfather of Kai and Elliana. He was the dear brother of Nicola and Michelina Del Vecchio and the late Antonietta, Gina, Francesco, Nora Del Vecchio. Domenico is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Domenico will be greatly missed by all his family and loved ones.
Domenico’s funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Saturday, June 24th, at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Saint Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 11 AM. Services will conclude with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday, from 4 to 8 PM.
