Robert James “Bob” Johnson, Sr., 78, of Derry, NH passed away Sunday June 18, 2023, at his residence in Derry. Bob was born September 16, 1944, in Haverhill, MA and was a son of the late James and Vivian (Bergeron) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and has been a resident of Derry for the past several years.
Bob was employed for many years as a sheet metal worker with Metal Crafters. After retirement, Bob was employed as a grocery clerk with Market Basket in Londonderry, NH. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast, an animal lover and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He also built and repaired computers at one time.
Members of the family include his loving wife of 61 years, Jean (Hubley) Johnson, a son and his wife, Robert J., Jr. and Judy Johnson, a daughter, Lisa Downing, four grandchildren, Jason and Matthew Downing, Eric and Chris Johnson and their families. Eleven great grandchildren, as well as, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother Ronald Johnson and his sister, Linda Carroll.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 15, 2023 from 12 - 4pm at 659 Sherwood Glen in Somersworth, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association: alz.org/donate, or to the NH SPCA 104 Portsmouth Ave, Stratham, NH 03885.
