Elaine Bannon Tetlow, age 72, of 42 Church Street Mystic CT, was received into God’s loving arms on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Westerly Hospital. She was born August 14, 1950, to Andrée and Walter Bannon Sr.
Elaine graduated from Fitch High School in 1968. In 1969, she started working at General Dynamics/Electric Boat as a secretary in the welding engineering department. She was very ambitious, valued her work, and went above and beyond what was asked of her to get the job done. She later married her husband, David Tetlow Sr., in 1973 at St. Patrick’s Church in Mystic, CT, as she continued to work at Electric Boat for the next 9 years. From then on, she decided to be a stay-at-home mother to her two children, David, and Danielle.
Elaine was one of 6 children born to Andrée and Walter Bannon. Together with her 5 siblings, Marian, Christian, Walter, Phyllis, and Michael, they performed as the Bannon Family Singers. She also sang at Carnegie Hall, took part in the Oklahoma play at Connecticut College, asked to sing for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and led worship for 30+ years at Faith Fellowship Church in New London, CT. She also sang with local groups at various restaurants in town. Her faith in God and love of music were the foundations of her life.
Elaine is survived by her beloved husband, David Tetlow Sr. of 50 years, her son David Tetlow Jr. of Ledyard, CT and wife Lisa Tetlow, her daughter Danielle Bennett of Mystic, CT and husband Terrill Bennett Sr., her brothers Christian Bannon, Walter Bannon and Michael Bannon as well as her four grandchildren Nicole Bennett, Jaden Tetlow, Chantelle Bennett, and Terrill Bennett Jr. She is pre-deceased by her parents Andrée and Walter Bannon, as well as her sisters Phyllis Watkins and Marian Martin.
