Diane Therese Ribeiro, 80, of East Bridgewater has entered into eternal life on Tuesday June 20, to join her predeceased mother, Laurence Elmira Ribeiro (Dumais).
Diane was born and raised in East Bridgewater and a graduate of East Bridgewater High School, Class of 1960. She worked many years as a Cost Accountant at Knapp Shoe in Brockton and retired in 2010 after 22 years, as an Insurance Processor from AAA Southern New England in Providence, RI. She also worked part time as a Tour Director for several bus lines traveling as far north as Canada and as far south as Nashville, TN. Diane was also known to hostess many weddings and house parties in the area.
Diane was known for being a pet lover along with her mother, entering her toy poodles and cats into shows in MA, RI, CT, NH, and NY, winning many awards. She also enjoyed entering her cousin Freddie’s 1957 Black Oldsmobile in antique car shows in New England also winning many awards.
She was Membership and Presentation Coordinator for the East Bridgewater Senior Citizen’s Club, a member of the East Bridgewater Council on Aging, Plymouth County S.A.L.T. TRIAD and EBHOPE. She was an independent, strong willed, and a very giving women, always there to help others. Diane was a communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church in East Bridgewater.
Diane is survived by her loving cousin Elaine Sands; caring friends and neighbors Vivian and Bruce Meserve; cousin Melissa Schrader, and Alfred Ribeiro all of East Bridgewater, and Lisa Nickerson of Halifax. Also, her many friends at the East Bridgewater Council on Aging, and the East Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours from 10:00-11:00 AM, with a service to follow at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 28, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte.58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Bridgewater.
