CHELMSFORD - Diane (McIlvain) Malloy, a longtime resident of Charlestown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Mass General Hospital.
She was born in Somerville on November 5, 1944, and was the daughter of the late ‘Mac’ and Pearl (Walsh) McIlvain.
Diane was raised in Billerica where she graduated from Billerica High School class of 1962. She went on to raise her daughters Ann and Bethann in the same town she grew up in. She was the neighborhood's mother, affectionately called ‘second mother’ to both the Hawes' and Lee's children. Diane’s door and pool were always open.
Diane is predeceased by her daughters Ann Mezzetti and Bethann Malloy, her brother Eddie McIlvain (Korean War Veteran) and his wife Clara, and her granddaughter Sandra McDougall.
Diane is survived by her partner of 34 years, Paul McDougall. Diane, who opened her heart to the entire McDougall clan, is also survived by David McDougall and his wife Candace of Southampton, Robert McDougall of Hudson, NH, Kevin McDougall of Manchester, NH, Paul McDougall and Julie McDougall of Chelmsford, and Donna Burke and her husband Sean of Andover.
Diane has Nine grandchildren; Stacie, Marissa, Katelynn, Noelle, Finian, Anna, Liam, Meredith and Lorelei. Seven great-grandchildren; Gavyn, Mackenzie, Jayla, Kira, Javian, Jeremiah and Damian. One great-great grandchild, Theo. Diane is also survived by her cousins Sandy Lee, Nancy Soloman, Helen Bunny and their families as well as many friends.
Per Diane's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
