Born on April 11, 1929, in Faial, Azores, Portugal, Eugenia was the daughter of the late James Luis and the late Maria Alice (Silva) Luis. Throughout her life, Eugenia exemplified a strong work ethic and dedication. When Eugenia wasn't focused on her professional endeavors, she found solace in her hobbies and passions.
