THOMPSON, CT - Rafał Dominik Lachcik, 28, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 16th, 2023 after an automobile accident. His family is deeply saddened by his passing. Rafał was born on July 28th, 1994 in Brooklyn, NY.
Rafał is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Talia (Nichols) Lachcik, their beautiful daughter, Emilia; his parents, Bogdan and Marzena (Jagielska) Lachcik of Dudley; a brother, Artur Lachcik and his fiancé Beth Cournoyer. He will be forever remembered by his in-laws, Joy and Greg Nichols; his grandmothers, Teresa (Sitko) Lachcik and Zofia (Stec) Jagielska; his grandparents-in-law Carlene and Bruce Hansen, and Linda Nichols; his uncles, Slawek Lachcik and his wife Marta, and Marek Lachcik and his wife Grazyna; his aunt, Iwona “Tosi” Jagielska; his cousins, Peter Lachcik and his fiancé Kayla Gelardi, Greg Lachcik, Izabella Lachcik, Klaudia Lachcik, Dawid Lachcik and his wife Katarzyna, and their daughter Bianka. He was predeceased by his grandfathers Stanislaw Lachcik and Ryszard Jagielski.
He attended middle school at St. Joseph School in Webster, MA, followed by high school at Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, CT. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Bentley University in Waltham, MA.
Rafał was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was an avid golfer (achieving a coveted hole-in-one), New England sports fan, talented self-taught chef, and loved the outdoors - you could always find him in the garden planting vegetables and flowers, grooming the perfect lawn, or working on the latest home renovation project with his father, father-in-law, and brother, all while playing with their beloved dog, Kemba. He loved to travel and just shared the trip of a lifetime to Poland and Ireland with his family in May.
Rafał was an extremely dedicated and hardworking man who built a great career in corporate development, recently earning the title of AVP of Global Strategy and Corporate Development at Sompo Holdings. All of his professional success was motivated by his love for his family.
Rafał always lit up and commanded any room he walked into. He had a very infectious laugh and one-of-a-kind personality that truly set him apart. He cared so deeply for the people close to him and made an everlasting impact on so many lives. His selfless nature was inspiring and he would do anything for the ones he so deeply loved. He will be forever missed by his family and friends.
His funeral will be held Saturday, June 24, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, MA with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Calling hours will be held Friday, June 23, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
