George W. Severance, Jr., 61

George W. Severance, Jr., age 61, of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his adoring family, following a brief illness on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Cindy L. Meaney, to whom he was wed for nearly nineteen years.
Born in South Weymouth, MA on June 1, 1962, he was a loving son of the late George W. Severance, Sr. and Sally (Derochea) Wilson.
George grew up in South Weymouth and was a graduate of South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School, where he studied auto mechanics. He had made his home in Norton for twenty-four years and was employed as a Documentational Specialist at Organogenesis in Norwood for the past sixteen years.
George’s favorite times were those spent with his treasured family. George never forgot his father, who he lost at a young age; he was his best friend and the memories of their extremely close relationship lived on in his heart forever.
George enjoyed camping, working on cars, spending time at the beach, watching gardening and baking shows on TV and was a big fan of Harry Potter, Star Wars and James Bond movies.
George had a special love for music, his favorite being country, classic rock and especially Jimmy Buffet. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan and will always be remembered for the special place in his heart and the love shown towards the pets that came into his life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Michael D. Purpura and his partner Crista Combis of Foxborough and Christine D. Purpura of Norton. He was the brother of Christine Ellis and her husband Randy of Brockton. He was the lifelong best friend of Tammy Greene of Florida. He was the much-loved son-in-law of Merilyn Meaney of West Bridgewater and the late Thomas Meaney. He was the brother-in-law of Diane Weatherbee and her husband Scott of West Bridgewater and Thomas Meaney and his wife Melissa of Rhode Island. He is also survived by his loving pets: Bailey, Sam and Cleo, as well as his cherished nieces and nephews,
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, June 25th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funereal Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Eulogies will be shared by his family at 6:30 P.M., during the visiting hours on Sunday. Burial will be private.
