Richard P. Duffett, 72, of Derry, NH died Tuesday June 13, 2023 at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry surrounded by his loving family. Rich was born in Cambridge, MA on August 16, 1950, a son of the late Edward and Mary (Harrington) Duffett. He had resided in Derry for the past 10 years, formerly living in Woburn and Haverhill, MA. Rich was a US Army veteran stationed at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico during the Vietnam War.
After retiring from a career in banking, Rich could commonly be found “driveway sitting“ or sitting by the fire pit on his backyard patio with friends and family. On weekends, he was commonly found at the football or lacrosse field cheering on his grandson Tyler, or in a packed auditorium cheering on his granddaughter, Makenna as she danced her heart out. In warm weather, Rich was out on the family boat catching his fair share of fish with the family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cathie (White) Duffett of Derry, his daughter, Kate Lally and her husband Dan of Derry, two grandchildren, Tyler Lally and Makenna Lally both of Derry, two brothers, Robert Duffett and his wife Kathy of Billerica, MA, and John (Jack) Duffett and his wife Kathy of Chelmsford, MA. He was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Morton and her husband William, and by his brother, Edward Duffett. He also leaves behind nieces and a nephew.
Calling hours will be held on Monday June 19, 2023 from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Catholic prayer service will be offered at 7:00pm in the funeral home, followed by military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or MSPCA @ Nevins Farm in Methuen.
