Obituary

DAVIS, Ellen M., 83, of Sandwich, MA passed away at Cape Regency Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Centerville, MA on June 11, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Boston, MA to the late Bartholomew and Mary (Flaherty) Sheehan. She follows her recently deceased husband Richard Davis with whom she shared 61 wonderful and blessed years of marriage.

Ellen grew up in Charlestown (i.e. God’s country according to Ellen) and attended Mt. Trinity Academy in Watertown, MA. She and Dick Davis met on a blind date in 1957 when they went to see an Elvis Presley movie, “Jailhouse Rock”. Ellen worked in grocery retail for a number of years before becoming a realtor where she thrived in relocating companies and individuals to their new job locations across the country. Ellen always dreamed of going to Ireland and was able to make that dream come true when she accompanied her daughter Terri and her family to the Emerald Isle in 2009. She was thrilled to meet several people who asked “how long she was home for?” as if the Irish just showed through her eyes. Ellen and Dick made a go of their own business called Tahiti Obsessions after their dream 25th Anniversary vacation to French Polynesia. They tried retiring in sunny Southern California but missed home and returned to Massachusetts.

Ellen is predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick) Davis who passed in April 2023 and her daughter Ellie Davis who passed in 2006. She is survived by her other three children; Richard E. Davis, Jr. and wife Kerry of Kingston, MA, Terri O’Connell and husband Michael of Redondo Beach, CA, and Anne Luevano of Sandwich, MA. Her eight grandchildren; Patrick Davis, Jason O’Connell, Kylie Vartelas, Anthony Luevano, Matthew O’Connell, Jordan O’Connell, John Luevano, and Zachary Luevano. One great grandchild; Avery Davis. Beloved sister of the late Mary Bussell. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ellen's visiting hours on Friday morning, June 16, 2023 from 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in St Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown.
