Jean Aquel Joseph, 70, of Lowell, formerly of Haiti, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Tufts Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Louisiane Pompilus-Joseph. Jean was born on January 12, 1953, in Léogâne, Haiti, where he spent his formative years, got married, and began raising his family. He dedicated many years of his life working as a skilled furniture craftsman.
After residing in Haiti for most of his life, Jean immigrated to the United States in 2018, seeking new opportunities and a better life for his loved ones. He had a deep passion for soccer, with a particular fondness for the Italian team. Watching matches brought him great joy. Jean cherished spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. He had a keen eye for people watching and took delight in observing the bustling activities of his neighborhood from his window.
In addition to his cherished wife, Louisiane, Jean is survived by his devoted son and five beloved daughters: Frederic Joseph and his wife Junia Auguste-Joseph of Lowell, Dadina, Kenthia, Farah, Nancy, and Castra Joseph, all residing in Haiti. He also leaves behind nine adored grandchildren and two caring sisters, Nenoune Joseph and Aldine Joseph.
During this difficult time, let us remember and celebrate the remarkable life of Jean Aquel Joseph. His presence, warm smile, and loving spirit will be deeply missed but forever etched in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 8:00 am until 11:30 am on June 17, 2023 at the Waltham Church of the Nazarene Haitian Community Church, located at 1450 Trapelo Rd, Waltham, MA 02451.
A funeral service honoring Jean's life will follow the calling hours, and the services will conclude with a procession to the Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell for graveside prayers.
