Johnel “Bubba” Dock, 64 of Ventura was called to Heaven on June 5th, 2023 after fighting a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Many who knew him know that he lived by the rule of “life is simple, people make it difficult” so in his honor we will attempt to make his announcement of being called back home as simple as possible.
Johnel was born December 8th, 1958 to parents SB and Wyvern Dock. He was the 6th out of 12 siblings and grew up in Santa Paula, Ca. After graduating from Santa Paula High School he decided to further his education and football career by attending Ventura College and then studying at Cal Poly Pomona. Loving the weather, his family, and the people of Ventura County, he decided to move back to Ventura to build his own family and legacy.
Throughout his 55 years of being a Ventura County resident, he managed to touch many people’s lives while living his. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, coaching, dancing (especially to the sounds of Earth Wind & Fire), traveling, working for CED, and most importantly his family and friends.
He took pride in being an amazing son, brother, uncle, father, and friend. He was a father figure to many and opened his home to his loved ones in need. He truly was a great human and is survived by his children Myecia, Darnell, Deven, and Johnel “JB” and his grandchildren Sereinity, Stephenson, and Ezra.
His family will have a private ceremony Friday, June 16th followed by a celebration of his life and impact which will be extended to all who knew and loved Johnel, Saturday, June 17th from 1-4 pm PST at the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Paula.
Johnel and his family have requested that in lieu of flowers, please donate to Momentum at momentum4all.org (formerly UCPLA) referencing the gift as a tribute In Memory of Johnel Dock.
Arrangements are under the direction of the BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION, Ventura.
