Cassius (Cash) A Cummings passed away surrounded by his family on June 8, 2023, at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater, MA, after a brief illness. He was 90. Cash was born in Taunton, MA, and raised in Dighton, MA. Cash resided in Raynham for the past 48 years.
Cash was a proud US Navy Veteran of the Korean War, where he served on the USS Wisconsin. He retired from Bay State Gas Company as a manager, where he worked for over forty years. Cash also held various part-time jobs as a bartender. He enjoyed delivering flowers for Olson’s Home of Flowers of Taunton in his early retirement years.
Cash was the beloved husband of Judith (Lane) Cummings for 48 years. He was the son of the late Cassius W. and Eleanor (Hall) Cummings. Cash was the proud father of Eleanor (Cummings) Mitchell of Raynham, Doug and his wife, Judith Cummings of New Hampshire, Catherine (Cummings) Kleindl of Wyoming, Kimberly (LaPlante) Pena, and her partner Jeffrey Gonsalves of Taunton, David and his wife, Stacy LaPlante of Raynham, Sherri (LaPlante) and her husband, David Scroggins of New Hampshire, and Susan (Cummings) and her husband, Shawn Smith of Raynham. Cash was preceded in death by his daughter Jeanne (Cummings) Lima of Wareham. He was the grandfather of seventeen grandchildren. Ten great-grandchildren also survive him. Cash was the brother of the late Ronald Cummings, Kenneth Cummings. And several nieces and nephews.
Cash was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church of Raynham. He was an avid sports fan of all New England teams. He also enjoyed golfing. Most of all, Cash enjoyed spending time with his family and beloved dog, Ruthie. He was happiest spending holidays and many summer days with family and friends by his pool.
To honor Cash’s wish, a private graveside service will be held later—services by O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, Inc of Taunton.
